Techland Interviews Jeff Kaplan on 5 Years of WoW
I just wanted to post a shout-out to the World of Warcraft. Happy Birthday! You’re older than most of my kids! The game has been going strong for 5 years and has been only getting better each year.
Techland posted a nice article today of an interview they had with Jeff Kaplan. He mentions some of the insecurities they had developing the game (”Will we ever reach 1 million users? Will we ever beat Everquest and Star Wars Galaxies?). He also mentions how he wished they would have learned some of their lessons earlier (like smaller raids), but he’s glad they’ve had the opportunity to go back and correct their mistakes and do things better for each expansion. The article briefly mentions the new MMO Blizzard is working on but Kaplan also talks about how excited he is for the future of WoW and predicts it will be an even greater (bigger? still running?) game 5 years from now.
You can read the entire article here.
I have no idea what I’m going to do when the new MMO is out alongside WoW, but I’m excited nonethless. Here’s to 5 more years of WoW!
