Patch 3.2 Pro Healing Tip #11924

Another pro tip for healing for Patch 3.2 with the new Beacon.

If your tank is in need of some major heals, spam your heals on the feral kitty druid with Nurturing Instinct, (assuming Beacon of Light is on the tank).  You’ll get a free 20% extra healing on the tank.  Yay!

  1. nice. thanks for the tip!

  2. And if you don’t have kitties, heal locks with that demon or whatever armor that gives them 20% more heals?

  3. Yeah, but I don’t think many locks use Demon armor for raiding.

  4. Prot pally off tanks get 6% additional heals if I’m not mistaken, as a last resort. I have a feeling 3.21 will be a hotfix for this if the 20% thing actually works or ptr will reveal it. But consider the 25-26k crit holy lights we’d be pouring on the tank when necessary… Just for numbers sake, mana efficient or not, itd be awesome to see.

  5. it seems too lame, i think it will be fixed before 3.2 goes live. otherwise some classes will be a “must have” in raid25 just to increse our heal.
feral druid or lock or bm’s pet or muti rogue.
and it will feel weird spam on a pet …

  6. 100% of your healing on your target gets transferred to the target of your beacon. I don’t see how they could change this without nerfin druids. I’m no programmer but I can imagine subtracting that 20% of healing from your beaconed target very difficult for when you’re healing a drood as opposed to another raid member. Yay kitty tool :P

  7. You knwo, this just seems like crazy bad inconsistent game design. Aren’t they moving away from having “required” classes to maximize any particular class’ efficacy? I’d have rather needed another paladin for blessing of light than a feral druid or marksman hunter to get the “most” out of my new “spammable” tank healing spell.. flash of light.

  8. So now, to heal the tank effectively, I need to do a raid buff census and heal the person who may or may not be at full health, based on the ability of their buffs to my tank healing is more effective. Doesn’t this sound bas ackwards to anyone else. It encourages overhealing, which isn’t a problem now…oh wait..

  9. No, you’re thinking like Holy Light spammers again.

What you guys are forgetting is that you’re not supposed to be spamming heals on the tank. You’ll get more effective healing, even taking into account the 20% boost, if you heal the people who actually need healing and let your other healers help you heal the tank. The druid tip is just a bonus if everyone else is at full health or if the tank’s health is really falling behind.

A better strategy if the tank is going down is to direct another raid healer to the tank so the Holy Paladin can continue with his maximum throughput - which is healing the people who actually need the heals, as well as the tank. Doubled healing is better than 20% extra healing. A good healer will know when its appropriate to heal the druid at full health and when its better to heal someone who actually needs the heal.

  10. I think I’m gonna use my SS HoT on the druid to make sure that the tank gets even more heals, or is the HoT not beaconed? If it is, This will be pretty overpowered if you have 2 kitties and so you all just SS HoT one and then spam whatever else on the other kitty/the raid when needed. When you get into a very intensive part, all you need to do is use Divine Illumination and Avenging Wrath and that will be the time that you can Holy Light spam, because it will cost 1/2 as much mana, obviously, and 40% more heals is amazing when you are already getting 18, 20k crits already, it can bring us up to 25k crits, which I don’t think ANY other healer can do at one point of time. Ugh, I am flipping back and forth on this issue about 3.2 healing, so I think that might be overpowered, just a bit, just we can only be overpowered for a small space in time, then we are back with the other healers imo.

  11. Or does Avenging Wrath not stack with such talents/moves?

  12. I believe Avenging Wrath does stack. However, the HoT doesn’t get Beaconed onto the tank, so that makes casting FoL on the kitty druid much less appealing. Even if it did get Beaconed, you would be wasting Sacred Shield on a kitty druid which is probably not a good idea.

  13. the beacon does not include overhealing. this would only then work if the target was not at full health and after a 25k holy light crit they would be. The druid probably wont even have that much health it would be better to spam the tank otherwise they will not get heals.

  14. Beacon does work on overhealing in Patch 3.2.
