Holy Paladin Tier 10 Set Bonuses
Edit: The Tier 10 Bonuses has already been updated, and so has this post.
Blizzard has released the set bonsues for our final Tier gear of the expansion.
- 2 Piece Bonus - While your Divine Illumination talent is active, your healing spells are increased by 35%.
This is a pretty straight-forward bonus. A 35% boost to healing is quite significant, however it is just for 15 seconds of every 3 minutes, so you’ll need to use it wisely (maybe take it off your macro?). It pretty much just turns the ability into another trinket or an Avenging Wrath you can use at key moments in a fight or to counteract the effects of Divine Plea. So, it doesn’t really give us any new mechanics, but its not a bad bonus at all.
- 4 Piece Bonus - Your Holy Shock spell causes the next Holy Light you cast within 10 seconds to have 0.3 seconds reduced cast time.
This sounds a lot like the old Infusion of Light, except the cast time reduction isn’t as large and it happens every time you cast Holy Shock instead of just when it crits. This seems like a really nice set bonus. You get an on-demand Holy Light cast time reduction every 6 seconds. It should do a lot to help a Holy Paladin deal with large burst damage on the tank. Throw a Holy Shock for some breathing room and then a 0.3 second faster Holy Light to save the day. Add a Divine Favor for a gauranteed crit on that Holy Light. Not bad at all. You might want to combine this with the Glyph of Holy Shock for some major bonus heal throughput. You’d be healing like a mad man.
Overall, these bonuses aren’t amazing, but they’re definitely not bad either. I approve. You have my permission to continue as scheduled, Blizzard.
Here are the pieces for the sets:
10-man (ilvl 251)
25-man (i264)
- Sanctified Lightsworn Spaulders
- Sanctified Lightsworn Greaves
- Sanctified Lightsworn Headpiece
- Sanctified Lightsworn Gloves
- Sanctified Lightsworn Tunic
25-man Heroic (ilvl 277)
- Sanctified Lightsworn Spaulders
- Sanctified Lightsworn Greaves
- Sanctified Lightsworn Headpiece
- Sanctified Lightsworn Gloves
- Sanctified Lightsworn Tunic

How does the 4 piece bonus stack with haste, and light’s grace?
HL=2.5 Seconds: Assuming 25% haste rating 2.5*.25=0.625
- 0.625 Equals 1.875 Seconds cast time
- 0.5 Seconds for Light’s Grace meaning 1.375 Seconds Cast time
- 0.3 Seconds for 4 pc bonus meaning 1.075 Seconds Cast time
It seems overpowered to me, if it stacks that way but who am I to judge.
(I fully admit that I did this math in my head and that it may be wrong)
I believe that Light’s Grace and the 4 piece bonus are accounted for before the haste bonus so, it would be 1.7 * .25 = .425, 1.7 - .425 = 1.275 second cast time.
Also, it only happens when you Holy Shock, so only every 6 seconds (or 5 with the glyph) if you Holy Shock every cooldown.
So then I guess I have to ask: Is it really worth going for the 4 piece bonus? Assuming someone is only going for their 2 piece (and I may be) what would be the 2 pieces to get? I’m going for helm and chest personally but I see many people getting helm/shoulders for their first 2 T10 pieces.
If you’re only going for 2 pieces, head and shoulders is definitely the way to go. You could get legs too if you want. Save your emblems for the 264 chest piece instead of the tier piece. Sure, it has Mp5 instead of haste but its stats are way higher and it has 3 sockets.
Just to clarify sum stuff. The maths are kinda wrong seeing that @ 940 haste the haste rating is like 28.54% this means that
holy light “unbuffed” and w/o JoTP will be on 1.98 secs thus applying the Light’s Grace talent it falls down to 1.68 not 1.48(like the tooltip would suggest). The question is does this apply to the 4pc set bonus? cuz if that’s the case you would be better of with the offpieces seeing that u get more haste out of them than u would get out of the actual 4pc bonus.
