@Thaldor I was doing the same thing as you with a cast sequence macro for both SS and BoL but had to change it as soon as I started raiding. (works fine in heroics cause there's only one tank) But usually in a raid you will find keeping SS up on the tank you're actively healing to be infinitely easier than on your BoL target. Get this add on called CLCBPT from curse. It's a simple timer that shows how much time remains on BoL, JoP, SS and SS HoT. I use mouseover macros and Grid for actually casting.

My toon is Irunfast of Ghostlands. I'm specced 51/5/15, Stacking Int, Haste, and Crit with no mp5 unless I absolutely have to. I have about 40k mana (I want more still, such a mana whore, love when I have more mana than some tanks XD) when fully raid buffed and never go OOM because of the way I time my cooldowns and pots. (Also helps that my wife is a druid and always raids with me, my own little innervate pot ^^) I heal everything, mostly tanks though of course and haven't had any issues so far, always topping meters as well. I use the pvp flash of light spell power increase libram to buff up me raid heals, makes my flash of light come in just under my holy shock heals.

Thanks for a great guide. I have fairly new to the Healadin world but enjoying it immensely.

I am 53/17/1 specced. :)

Something that I have done and haven't seen anywhere else is to use power auras to keep track of SS and BoL. So maybe this tip can be useful to you.

What I do is set my main healing target as my Focus Target (usually OT or MT). I have then set up Power Auras to give me a pulsing icon to either side of my Focus Frame. One for SS and one for BoL (if they are NOT applied). I have two macros to apply SS and BoL and both automatically go on to my Focus Target. When they ARE applied the Pulsing icons from Power Auras is replaced by a timer showing me when either SS or BoL is running out. I find that setup incredibly easy to use.

I can then spam heals on anyone who needs it and easily keep track of when to reapply either BoL or SS.

Its a great idea to have different sets of gear, if for no other reason than that it allows you to experiment more and find out what works best for you for different encounters. Using SP/Crit requires more cooperation from your other healers. Its more reactive and requires more HoTs and shields on the tank and there might be some groups where you're just not getting that help and the heals per second on the tanks you need so you'll have to use your Int/Haste gear and Holy Light, even if its a riskier method. But if your group is doing well and people aren't dying, keep your combat logs, try out a few different pieces of gear, and find out how the numbers work out between the two. Let us know what you find. =-D

Hey, there. I've found this site to be most helpfull, and the blogs from other Holy Pali's are just what I was looking for! My talent build is 51/2/18, and I gear for crit/haste and gem for SP, but every other top Paladin on my server stacks Int. I am not in a raiding guild and have pugged all my gear, I do well in raids though. Now that I've been running ToC10/25 and attempting ToGC it seems that the Int. Pali's are more curious about my spec and gear structure than I could imagion. Almost everytime I am in a raid the other pali's question my spec/gear choices, yet I still don't go oom and they wonder why. I say, it's all because of this site...:) The advice and information found here has made my game!! Thank you so very much.... One more thing .... Would it be redundant to have two sets of gear/spec for holy? One for SP and crit, and another for Int and haste? Or would that be a waste of time and effort, should I re-glyph andre-gem gear I have and try it out or just go with the versatility of being both? TYSVM again!

I find 51/20/0 stacking both Spellpower and Haste to work the best for me. the extra 30 seconds on Sacred Shield gives me more time to spam heals around. With 51/5/20 I seemed to go OOM a lot faster and my HPS dropped significantly lower.

Personally I think atleast one Holy Paladin in the raid should spec into 51/20/0 for the Divine Sacrifice spell and also the spec is good if you dont happen to have a Protection Paladin or Resto Druid in the raid ~which seems to happen a lot in my current Guild (We have a lot of Warrior tanks and Resto Shamans instead).

I guess it's down to the debate of what your Guild needs. Clearly both specs have their benefits and drawbacks but I think utility > healing meters every time. (Although I top the meters AND provide utility spec'd as 51/20/0). /flex :P

Adam, you don't actually get +11% from prot if you have a prot pally or resto druid in the raid (the 6% from improved devotion doesn't stack). Also, 2% of that you will also get with a Holy/Ret build so going Holy/Prot really only nets you a 3% increase in healing. You could get the full 5% increase with a Holy/Ret build if you put the full 5 points into Divinity instead of Sanctity of Battle.

Also, you're forgetting the Benediction talent in Ret which will save you 10% mana on Holy Shock, judgement, instant Flash of Lights, Sacred Shield and Beacon, netting a ton more mana saved than Holy/Prot.

Also, Khassad, the Darkmoon Card: Greatness is a Naxx-10 level item, so of course the ToC-25 trinket will be better. Intellect is better assuming you have the same budget of both stats. You don't need a lot more Mp5 budget for Mp5 to be a better stat for mana regen than Intellect.
