I agree with almost everything you have stated in this post. I have the same nasty habit of over healing through druids HoTs. I will tend to spam either holy lights or flash of light on everyone when theres raid damage to get them all back up to a stable amount of health, even if i can see a druid has heals ticking. It's easier when i am in a raid with a holy priest or shaman on raid heals because they can get them up faster without waiting for the heals to slowly get them up.

In regards to the use of beacon i find it quite useful in say VoA or northrend beasts. Watch the target of your beacon, if the other tank takes a big hit throw a holy light on them and both your tanks stay up, plus some splash heals on the mellee dps. someone stand in the fire - throw a holy light and more tank heals and splash healing. Beacon has got to be one of my favorite spells for my holy paladin in overall usefulness. the only case i wont put beacon on a tank is on faction champs in ToC, when theres really no point beaconing a tank (because there are no aggro tables on those bosses), so your better off using beacon to hold yourself up. other than that, beacon stays on a tank, along with sacred shield always being up on the same target.

In regards to gear stats and gemming, i tend to go for a mix of int, and spell power. in the off case when theres a blue socket where i want the bonus i will gem with +int +mp5. i don't usually gem for haste or crit as i get enough of this from my gear, and rarely will gem for mp5 for the same reason. i prefer to use a mix of spell power and intellect as yes intellect grants big mana and spell power and all the rest; but the spell power from gems will allow your much more efficient flash of lights to hit for more, plus with the 4 piece tier 9 bonus the sacred shield hot ticks for twice as much, so when your already big flash of light crits for 7000+ in one hit your hot now ticks for 1500 per second over twelve seconds, thats better then some druid hots. by using a mix of intellect and mp5 i have allowed myself to achieve a large enough mana pool to rarely ever go oom, while still having holy lights and flash of light that hit for really large amounts.

Anyway this is a really good post i look forward to reading in the future.

I still can't figure out why every paladin despises mp5, i won't wear a single piece of gear that doesn't have it on (trinkets the exception). my mana pool is relatively small because i don't have a single int gem or trinket (about 21k unbuffed) but the mp5 i have restores 6300+ mana a minute plus divine plea which resores 5250 mana for 11550 mana a minute so thats as much mana a minute as a int stacking pally with a 46k mana pool.... (hard to find...).

I also find haste fantastic for flash spammers because of the raw HPS it can put out and reliability. I even bought the 75 triumph badge mail helm and the 45 badge mail shoulders because of the mp5 and haste, i enjoy crit but i have 33% and i figure that is sufficient. I'm quite dissapointed in our t9 gear as only the gloves have my 2 favorite stats on them the rest seclude mp5 or don't have any haste on them.

I almost got kicked out of a 10 man ToGC because the leader laughed at my mana pool until i outlasted and absolutely smashed him in healing.

Also love sp for i like to call us effective holy paladins that use the right heal for the job and don't seclude a single spell. as it simply allows you to keep people alive more efficiently. Can't wait for this new flash hot lol woot!

I realize a lot of people think that every single Holy Paladin should primarily gem Intellect for every single encounter. It wouldn't be the biggest misconception if a lot of people didn't disagree with me. However, I think that saying there's one way to gear for every paladin, for every raid, for every encounter is naive. There are cases where Intellect isn't the most effective way to gear. It may be best for you to always gem Intellect but that doesn't mean its best for everyone, all the time.

I really liked what you had to say about the paladin. But! I must disagree with any holy paladin gemming anything other than int. It gives us mana, spell power, and crit. As far as haste goes I judgement light and gain 15% haste which more than takes care of my needs for haste. I despise Mp5... We have so many other ways of getting our mana back IE divine plea, critting with spells, and divine illumination helps a lot too. As far as gear goes Int stam, crit, spell power, then haste or mp5. I like haste as a stat on gear.. dun mind it at all. but i always cringe when i see mp5 lol.

I've been playing a paladin since june '05 so i've been with the class through its ups and downs. It's exciting to see what the future holds for us!
