What makes a good healer in WOW?

If you check out the official World of Warcraft forums, you’ll find a lot of discussion about which healer is the best in different situations and about how changes to our class affects our ability to heal.  At the basis of this discussion is the underlying question of what exactly makes a class, or even [...]

Who should we use Sacred Shield on in Patch 3.2?

A question that’s been nagging me for a few days is who the best target of Sacred Shield will be in Patch 3.2.  According to the 3.2 Patch Notes:

When a paladin casts Flash of Light on a target with this buff, they also now place a heal over time effect on the target, healing that [...]

Patch 3.2 Pro Healing Tip #11924

Another pro tip for healing for Patch 3.2 with the new Beacon.
If your tank is in need of some major heals, spam your heals on the feral kitty druid with Nurturing Instinct, (assuming Beacon of Light is on the tank).  You’ll get a free 20% extra healing on the tank.  Yay!

Beacon of Light and Emblem Changes in Patch 3.2

The more I think over the changes coming in Patch 3.2, the more I start to drool.  Without the mana nerfs, the changes to Beacon of Light would be totally overpowered, there’s no question in my mind.  The only thing stopping it from being overpowered is our own need to conserve mana so we can [...]

Holy Paladin Healing in Patch 3.2

Most of the tips in my previous guide to Holy Paladin healing and my comments about paladin versatility will still apply in Patch 3.2.  However, if all of the Patch 3.2 changes do go through, there are a few changes that will need to be made to most Holy Paladin’s healing strategy.  I’ll go over those changes below.
1.  No more solo tank healing [...]

Holy Paladin Changes Patch 3.2 - Beacon, Flash, SS, Illumination

Eyonix has posted a description of the proposed changes upcoming for Holy Paladins in Patch 3.2 and have also released the full Patch 3.2 notes.  Here is a condensed version related to Holy Paladins with my thoughts and the full post below.  Of course, everything is subject to change.  First, the most important change:

Beacon of Light:   The healing amount on [...]

Holy Paladins are almost overpowered - Changes incoming in Patch 3.2.

There’s been a lot of discussion going down on the official Paladin forums about the problems with Holy Paladins.  Now, most of these problems have existed for as long as the paladin has existed and Holy Paladins have been complaining about it for just as long.  Paladins have always excelled at single target healing and our strategy when [...]

Arena Healing Tips for Holy Paladins

I’ve been doing arenas quite a lot lately, so I thought I’d post some of the basics to healing arenas that will help you succeed as you first start out.  Keep in mind that I normally do 2v2 and 3v3 arenas with melee dps (Arms Warriors, Ret Pallies, Rogues, and Death Knights) and a 49/2/20 spec, but a [...]

Tank Stats - Mitigation, Avoidance and Stamina

As a healer, you’re going to be running with a number of different kinds of tanks.  Druids, paladins, warriors and death knights each have their own flavor to tanking  and you can even find a big difference in tanking styles between tanks of the same class, depending on their gear, spec, and skill.  Its always good as [...]

Are Holy Paladins versatile healers?

I’m sorry for the large amount of “paladins can raid heal” posts I’ve been doing lately, but I’m still seeing tons of paladins on the WOW forums and elsewhere insisting that the only thing that Paladins can do is tank heal with Holy Light.  They say our other spells are useless and we are limited to [...]
