Adventures with Emalon and Malygos
Last night we managed to down 10-man Emalon with only one person specced heals (me) and 4 melee dps. It was a pretty interesting way to do the fight. The two tanks stood a little less than 40 yards apart so that with Beacon up I really only had to heal one of the tanks. The dps did a great job staying spread out and avoiding the chain lightning and the lightning nova, so there wasn’t a lot of raid damage to worry about. Our shadow priest helped heal for most of the fight, but switched solely to dps when one of the adds enraged so we could make sure to get them down every time. It went really well and wasn’t too difficult to heal once we got the hang of it. The only issue was keeping the shadow priest’s mana up, but an Innervate helped solve that problem.
Here was our group composition:
- 2 Prot Warriors
- 1 Feral Druid
- 2 Ret Pallies
- 1 Arms Warrior
- 1 Survival Hunter
- 1 Affliction Warlock
- 1 Shadow Priest
- 1 Holy Paladin
Our group went on to down Malygos last night as well (we switched one of the prot warriors for a rogue and the shadow priest switched to holy). Notice that we didn’t have any death knights in our group and our feral druid never used her root. We managed to stop the sparks with pally and rogue stuns, which was another interesting experience.
Overall, it was a very productive night. Our priest got two nice upgrades. We might consider doing Emalon with one healer from now on. Beacon is just that amazing. =-D
I also have a guide to Emalon I posted last week if you’re interested in finding some more Emalon strategies.

You’re in luck, Flamemagic. I have a post about each of those things. You can find links to all of my UI-related articles on the right side or at the bottom of this post:

Nice work… After reading this last night I decided to try and one healing Emalon as well… but with no help from any other sources.
The fight was pretty intense especially since one of our members was spec to heal with no dual spec to switch to dps AND one of our DPS was also a very under geared alt but I managed to pull it off with out any deaths.
The biggest hurdle was to manage my mana pool effectively as the fight took a bit longer then I would of liked to but with the proper use of DP and a mana potion everything worked out just fine.
